A guy in Oak View picked up a 2013 S60 at an estate sale over the weekend. Well-maintained car, one careful previous owner, and exactly one key. The family handed it over and told him to figure out a spare on his own.
He called the Volvo dealer first. The quote came back high enough that he phoned me just to ask if that number was real. His working key gave me everything I needed to set up the second one cleanly. Cut the emergency blade, paired the new fob, walked every function: door handles, slot start, the lock and unlock buttons, the full six-button layout. Everything came alive.
I mentioned, before I left, that on an S60 with all keys lost the job gets considerably more involved. The body control system needs the key memory wiped before new keys can be registered, and that is a different scope of work entirely. Having a spare now meant he was protected against that scenario.
He left with two working keys for well under what the dealer quoted for one. That felt like a good afternoon.
