2013 Audi A3
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

Scam locksmiths are a real problem, and European car owners get hit harder because the work is perceived as expensive. The pattern is always the same: a low quote on the phone, a stranger shows up in an unmarked car, and the final number is two or three times what was discussed. EZ Car Keyz shows up in a marked vehicle, gives a firm price on the phone, and that number does not change at the car.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

Yes. A correctly cut replacement key for the 2013 A3 turns the ignition and operates the door locks the same as the original. Before I leave, I test the key in the ignition and in each door lock I can access. If something feels off in the cylinder, I catch it on site rather than leaving you to figure it out later. The replacement key is tested, not just handed over.

Q: My 2013 A3 key turns but the car won't start. Is the key the problem?

Not necessarily the key itself. If the blade is intact and turning correctly in the cylinder, the issue may be elsewhere in the starting system. A worn key blade can develop enough play in the cylinder over time that it stops making clean contact with the tumblers, which can cause intermittent no-start conditions that feel random. That said, a key that turns freely but won't start the car is worth inspecting at the cylinder level before replacing anything.

Q: Can a locksmith cut a replacement key for my 2013 A3 on the spot, or do I have to go to a dealer?

On the spot, yes. The VIN gives me access to the key code through verified channels, so I can cut a working key at your location without removing any locks. If you have a working key, I can also decode directly from that. Either way, the cut happens in the van and the key gets tested before I pack up. No tow, no appointment, no waiting on parts to be ordered.

2013 Audi A3 Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already in Oxnard running another call when the text came in from The Collection. An office manager at one of the businesses near the shops had snapped her key at the bow, right where the plastic head meets the blade.

The blade was still in her ignition. Not the worst situation, but not a quick fix if you're standing there with no spare and a meeting in forty minutes.

I texted back asking for the VIN. She had it off her registration card before I even finished parking.

With the VIN I could pull the key code without touching the lock. I cut a fresh blank on the van, then used a thin extraction tool to pull the broken blade segment from the ignition cylinder before anything bound up worse. The cylinder was fine. No damage.

New key went in, turned smooth on the first try. She tested it herself, locked and unlocked the door, started the car. Forty-one minutes from her first text to her driving away. She mentioned the dealer had told her to tow the car in and leave it overnight. I didn't say much about that.

“The gentleman was amazing. He programmed and cut two keys with the fob in about 10 min. The dealership wouldn't help us and he came in clutch. Would definitely recommend.”

Audi A3 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Audi vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is a California BSIS licensed locksmith company (LCO#6792), fully insured, and bonded. Audi work gets treated the same as any other make here: verify ownership, confirm the VIN, do the job correctly. For a 2013 A3 mechanical key, the job is cutting and fitting, and we do that on site without towing, without an overnight drop-off, and without a service department queue.
