A European auto specialist shop over near Del Sol Park in Oxnard called me about a 2017 A3 that was completely dead to keys. Another locksmith had attempted an all-keys-lost procedure, lost connection mid-read on the BCM2, and the module locked up. No key learning through OBD. No immobilizer response at all. The customer was waiting at the shop.
I brought my ACDP module 2 for the bench work. Pulled the BCM2 out, identified the board, and read the encrypted EEPROM data directly off the chip. That data goes to a calculation server, comes back as a file I can use to generate new dealer-spec keys and re-initialize the immobilizer from scratch.
The part that took the longest was just waiting on the calc return. Once I had the file, I generated a fresh key with the correct Megamos AES crypto, reinstalled the BCM2, and ran OBD key learning. His new NBGFS12A71 proximity fob came up clean on the first attempt. All four buttons, passive entry on both front doors, push-button start.
The whole thing ran about two hours, which is long compared to a normal add-a-key. But the alternative was shipping the BCM2 out to a remote recovery service and waiting days, or towing to the dealer. The car left the shop running that same afternoon. The shop tech just stood there shaking his head that it was done already.
