2019 Audi A3 Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy over in the Blackstock area of Oxnard on a Tuesday afternoon. He had a 2019 Audi A3 and a problem that sounds simple until it isn't: his only key had snapped. Not lost, not stolen. Snapped clean at the shoulder, with the tip still sitting in the door lock cylinder.
That changes the job a little. First thing is getting the broken tip out without damaging the cylinder. I carry a broken key extractor set and worked the tip free in a few minutes. Once it was out I had both pieces, which actually helped because I could read the cut from the original blade even in two halves.
I cut a new blade to match, tested it in the door, then tested it in the ignition. Smooth both ways. That is what I check for: no false turns, no binding on the way out, consistent feel every time.
The owner watched the whole thing from about ten feet away and his only comment was that he expected it to take longer. He had already looked up what the dealer wanted to do, which involved ordering a replacement and scheduling an appointment he could not get for five days. He needed the car that afternoon.
That is the gap I fill. No appointment, no waiting on parts to ship, and the work happens in his parking lot.
