1999 Audi TT Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a pin drop from a woman in the Rose Park area of Oxnard on a Saturday afternoon. She'd been out running errands, came back to her 1999 Audi TT in a parking lot, and the key wasn't in her bag. Not in the car, not in any pocket. Gone.
She said she'd already called the Audi dealer. They told her to tow it in, parts would need to be ordered, and she was looking at several days minimum before she'd have a working key. On a Saturday, that answer was dead end. She found me online and texted the pin.
I pulled up with her TT sitting right there in the lot. Before anything else, I popped the flip mechanism and looked at the blade, then pulled out the right blank for the cut. The original fob was gone so I was starting from scratch: decode the lock, cut the blade, then handle the electronic side.
The thing people don't always realize about these early Audis is the flip fob is deceptively simple looking but the registration process is not. I connected to the vehicle, worked through the immobilizer enrollment, and got the new key registered. Then the part that matters most: I put the key in the ignition, turned it, and it fired up.
She said she'd expected to be without the car until at least Tuesday. It was barely three in the afternoon and she was driving home. The dealer comparison came up briefly. She'd done the math already and said she saved a good chunk, not counting the tow she didn't have to pay for.
