A software engineer up on Upper State Street corridor in Santa Barbara watched his only Audi TT key slide through a storm drain grate outside his office. Gone. He had standups at nine and a product demo at three, so towing the car to a dealer and losing half a day was not happening.

I drove out, parked next to the TT, and plugged the Autel IM608 into the OBD-II port. On the 8J TT, the immobilizer lives in the instrument cluster, so the tool talks to that module directly. All-keys-lost on a Megamos 48 CAN system means reading the cluster's security data, extracting the transponder key value, then writing a fresh ID48 chip to match. After that, I cut the HU66 blade on site using the bitting pulled from the lock.
One flip key, programmed and cut. Turned the ignition, engine fired, no immobilizer light on the dash. I cycled it twice more just to be sure.
He walked back to his desk and made his three o'clock demo. His car never left the parking spot, and the whole thing took less time than a lunch break.
