I got a call from a guy in Mission Canyon, Santa Barbara. His 2004 Audi TT was sitting in his office parking lot and his key had gone straight into a storm drain at the curb. He watched it happen and there was nothing to be done about it.

I connected to the OBD port, ran through the immobilizer registration, and coded the remote to the body control module. Then I went through every button on the fob, tested the locks from a distance, confirmed the car started cleanly, and handed it over.
He was back at his desk before his afternoon demo. His car never moved from the parking spot.
The dealer, when he called them before reaching me, had started talking about sourcing timelines and authorization. That conversation alone would have cost him the day.
