A shop owner on the De La Vina corridor in Santa Barbara called me mid-morning, voice flat but moving fast. He runs an import repair place, had a customer's 2010 Audi TT on the lift with the wheels already off, and the only key had slipped off the peg board and dropped straight down the shop floor drain. Customer was coming back in two hours.
I pulled up and the TT was hanging there, brakeless and keyless. Looked like a problem. Wasn't, really.
The 2010 TT is second-gen, 8J chassis, running IMMO3 on the Megamos Crypto 48 transponder, part number 4F0 837 220. The HU66 lock is one of the cleanest profiles to decode. I connected my VVDI2 to the OBD port, read the immobilizer PIN from the ECU, generated a fresh TP08 chip, and wrote it as a replacement. Cut the HU66 blade on site, programmed the three-button remote with FCC ID IYZ3314, and tested ignition start.
Thirty minutes, key to finish. The shop owner put the wheels back on and the customer picked up on schedule. He never knew the key fell in a drain.
The dealer route on these would have meant a tow, a wait measured in days, and a bill that makes you wish you had a spare. This was just a Tuesday.
