Up on The Riviera in Santa Barbara, a guy called me about his 2011 Audi TT. He had taken it to another locksmith first, the kind with a generic listing and a price that sounds reasonable until you are already standing at the car. That tech had attempted to register a new flip key, something went sideways during the immobilizer enrollment, and he left without finishing the job. The car would not start. The whole job ran about two hours. He had been quoted a number at the dealer that would have taken days and cost considerably more. He drove home that afternoon.
The part that stuck with me was that he felt bad for trying to save money the first time. I told him the same thing I tell everyone: it is not the attempt that costs you, it is the unfinished attempt. A clean all-keys-lost job on this platform is a known, documented procedure. It only gets complicated when someone walks away from it mid-process.
