I cut the emergency insert key on site, built the new HYQ2EB proximity fob from blank stock, and ran the theft deterrent relearn through the BCM.
The part that takes the longest is just waiting. GM's security access protocol has a timed countdown you cannot skip. So we stood there in the gravel lot watching pelicans while his Cadillac thought about it.
When it started, he just nodded. Walked all four doors, tested the liftgate button, checked passive lock on walkaway. Everything clean. He drove home with his family that same afternoon, for a fraction of what a dealer plus tow would have run him.
