A driver near Hendry's Beach in Santa Barbara called about his 2020 Cadillac XT5. His emergency insert blade had gone stiff in the door lock, and when he pulled it out he could see the wear line running right through the shoulder of the HU100 profile. He was afraid to use it again. One more hard twist and he'd be dealing with an extraction on top of everything else.
I met him at a service plaza off the road. The smart fob shell, part number 13598538, was in decent shape but that blade was done. I used my HU100 Lishi tool to decode the wafers from the passenger door where they were still clean and unworn, then cut a fresh blade matched to the original depths.
The HYQ2EB fob itself just needed the new blade seated and a quick security relearn through the OBD-II port. One cycle on the GM module and the push-button start fired on the first press. I walked the full five buttons: lock, unlock, remote start, hatch release, and panic. Then tested passive entry on both front handles and the hatch proximity sensor.
He was rolling again in about 40 minutes from the time I pulled up. Dealer quoted him a multi-day wait plus a tow into town. He drove home instead.
