2003 Dodge Neon
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2003 Dodge Neon Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked on a side street near La Colonia on a Tuesday afternoon when the call came in. A woman had snapped her Neon key in the ignition trying to force a turn. The metal part came out, the black plastic head with the transponder chip stayed jammed inside. Car was going nowhere.

I carry extraction tools for exactly this. Got the broken portion out without touching the tumblers, cut a new blade to match her lock, and then programmed the transponder to the immobilizer. The whole thing happened on the street, no tow, no appointment, no waiting room.

She mentioned she had called the dealer first. They told her to get it towed in, said parts would need to be ordered, and she was looking at several days without the car. She lives close enough to walk to work but has a kid to pick up every afternoon. A few days without a car was not a small thing.

We were done in under an hour. She drove off for school pickup with time to spare. The dealer option would have cost her more money and a lot more stress.
