2004 Dodge Neon Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Marina West Park in Oxnard, a guy had his 2004 Dodge Neon sitting in a dirt lot near a trailhead. He had been hauling his quad on a trailer, and somewhere between unloading and riding, his only key disappeared. Gone. Probably bounced out on the trail and got buried in sand.
He called another locksmith first. That guy told him the ignition cylinder would likely need to be drilled out and replaced. He called me for a second opinion.
I drove out and got to work with my Y157 Lishi tool on the door lock. Each wafer position read clean, gave me the factory cut depths without pulling or drilling anything. The lock stayed completely intact. Once I had the code, I cut a fresh Y160-PT blank and seated the PCF7936 transponder chip in the key head.
Then the real work: all-keys-lost programming through the SKIM module. I pulled the four-digit PIN from the SKIM using my diagnostic tool on the OBD-II port, wrote the new transponder ID to the immobilizer, and confirmed the PCM accepted it. Engine fired on the first turn.
His door lock, his ignition, his steering column, all factory original. Nothing drilled, nothing swapped. The other locksmith was quoting a full cylinder replacement on top of the key. I did the whole thing on site for a fraction of that.
He drove out of that dirt lot the same way he drove in, just with a new key.
