2003 Hyundai Santa Fe Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over near the High Street Arts Center in Moorpark, a mom flagged me down in a parking lot. Not my scheduled call. She saw the van lettering while I was finishing up another job and walked over holding two halves of a remote.
Her 2003 Santa Fe was running a separate remote and mechanical key setup, the way Hyundai did it on the first-gen SM platform. No transponder chip in the ignition key, just a standard metal blade for the doors and ignition, and the OSLOKA-22201T remote for keyless entry. The remote had split right at the keyring eye. Both halves were held together with a hair tie.
I opened it up on the hood. The CR2032 was corroded, one of the contact tabs was bent sideways, and the circuit board had battery acid residue along the trace near the LED. Cleaned the board with contact cleaner, straightened the tab, dropped in a new CR2032, and transferred the guts into a fresh aftermarket shell.
Then I did the part she didn't expect. Walked about 30 feet away and tested lock, unlock, and panic. Walked back, tested again from 10 feet. Pressed each button three times at the driver door. She stood there watching like I was overdoing it.
I told her those extra two minutes are how I know the remote still works next week, not just right now. She just nodded and said her dealer would have told her to buy a whole new one.
