Out in Oxnard, near the Rose Shopping Center, a guy was sitting in his 2014 Santa Fe with half a key blade in his hand and the other half jammed in the ignition cylinder. He had already called someone else. That locksmith quoted him for a full ignition replacement over the phone. New cylinder, new keys, the whole thing. He hung up and tried me.
I got there and pulled out my HY14 Lishi tool. The broken fragment was wedged past the second wafer, but it came out clean without scratching any of the internal surfaces. Once it was free, I decoded the lock directly from the wafer positions instead of needing a key code.
Cut a fresh blade on site, then programmed the ID46 transponder through OBD. His fob was fine. The SY5DMFNA04 housing, the four buttons, the remote functions, all good. He just needed a new blade and a chip paired to his immobilizer.
No drilling. No cylinder swap. No tow to a shop. His original ignition works with the new key the same as the day he bought the car.
He mentioned the other locksmith wanted to replace the whole assembly. That would have been a few hundred more and a couple hours of waiting. This took about 35 minutes.
