2015 Hyundai Santa Fe
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Oxnard Shores, I got a call from a woman who had been driving her 2015 Santa Fe with one key for about two years. She had told herself she'd get a spare made eventually. Then eventually arrived.

The fob housing had cracked along the seam, she'd tried to hold it together with electrical tape, and at some point the emergency blade snapped off inside the door lock cylinder while she was trying to use it manually. She called me standing in the parking lot of her apartment complex with the fob body in one hand and nothing in the other. Zero working keys.

When I pulled up, I checked the internal board from the cracked fob first. The housing was gone but the board was intact and the transponder was still reading. That mattered a lot. When the internal components survive a broken shell, the job changes entirely. I extracted the blade fragment from the lock, decoded the cylinder, and cut two new blades to match.

Then I transferred the board into a fresh replacement shell, seated everything correctly, and ran the programming through the OBD port to confirm both keys were active in the system. Walked every function: door handles, lock, unlock, the start button, all four buttons on both fobs.

She watched the whole thing from about three feet away. When both keys worked, she said she wished she'd done it two years ago.

The job took just under 45 minutes. If she'd had to go to the dealer, she'd have needed a tow, an appointment, and probably a week's wait. None of that happened here.
