A product manager over in the Oakridge Estates area of Simi Valley asked me flat out whether an aftermarket key would be "as good as dealer." He had a 2007 G35 sedan and wanted a daily-use spare, not something that sits in a junk drawer. Fair question.
His car runs the Intelligent Key system with the KR55WK48903 fob, 4 buttons, push-button start, the whole setup. Under the hood of that fob is a Hitag2/PCF7952 chip talking to the BCM, part number 284B1-JA000 on the sedan. Nissan and Infiniti share the same NATS5 protocol across this generation, so the security handshake is identical whether the housing says Infiniti or not.
I decoded his door with my Lishi NSN11, verified every cut against the original, and programmed the new fob through the OBD port using the vehicle's 4-digit PIN code pulled from the BCM. The whole thing took maybe 25 minutes in his driveway.
The aftermarket shell has the same snap-fit, same weight, same button feel. The difference is no Infiniti logo on the back and way less than the dealer quote he got. He pressed the start button, engine fired, tested all four buttons, and that was it. No drama.
Where aftermarket goes wrong is cheap blanks with paper-thin shells and inconsistent chips. I test every batch and return anything that doesn't hold up.
