I got a call from a guy out near Casitas Springs on a Saturday morning. He had a 2000 Jaguar XK coupe, British racing green, and his only key had snapped. Not lost, not failing, actually snapped in the door lock cylinder. Half of it was still sitting inside the lock.

Cut a new key blade on site, registered the replacement transponder to the immobilizer, and tested it in the ignition and both door locks before I packed up.
The whole visit was well under two hours. He started the car himself, sat there for a second, then just nodded. He had been bracing for a multi-day ordeal. The dealer was not wrong that they could fix it. They just were not the only option, and they were not coming to his driveway.
