A woman in the Juanamaria neighborhood in Ventura had her bag snatched while she was out shopping with her college-age daughter. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it gone. Her daughter called the police from her own phone, then her father, then me.
The 2008 Jaguar XK was sitting in the garage with zero keys. The Jaguar dealer told her husband it would be three to five business days, a tow to the service bay, and a KVM reset since the stolen fob could still start the car.
I got there that evening. All-keys-lost on the X150 XK means I have to clear the old key data from the Key Vault Module so the stolen smart key is permanently dead to the car. I used my IM608 with the bench adapter to read the KVM EEPROM, generated two fresh key files, and wrote them to new 5-button fobs. Decoded the lock cylinder, cut both emergency blades, tested proximity unlock on every door handle and the trunk, ran the push-to-start cycle twice.
Both fobs were working before the police finished taking the report.
Her daughter kept hovering by the driver's door, pressing the handle over and over like she was daring it to fail. It didn't.
She drove home that night with her daughter, two new keys in hand, and the stolen fob completely erased from the system. The whole thing took less than an hour on site, for a fraction of what the dealer wanted plus a tow plus a week of waiting.
