2007 Jaguar XK
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2007 Jaguar XK Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

La Conchita is a small stretch of coast just off the 101, tucked between the hills and the water. Not a lot of places to go if you're stranded at night without a key.

A woman called me from there on a weeknight. She'd had the one fob to her 2007 XK for as long as she'd owned it, and somewhere between errands and getting home, it disappeared. Checked the car, checked her bag three times, checked the house. Gone. She'd been putting off getting a spare made for over a year, which she mentioned on the phone with the specific tone people use when they already know what you're thinking.

She wasn't sure where her VIN was. I walked her through it. Driver's side, base of the windshield, look through the glass from outside with your phone light. Took her about thirty seconds. I told her to pull up her insurance app for the rest of what I needed, and that covered it.

With the VIN confirmed and ownership verified, I knew exactly what I was dealing with before I left. I prepped the correct fob blank and had the right tools loaded for this generation of the XK's security system. Drove out to La Conchita, got into the car, read the module data, and programmed a new fob under the porch light while she watched.

The whole job took less time than the tow to a Jaguar dealer would have. And the dealer would have been closed anyway.

She asked me twice if the new fob was really going to work. I walked every button, checked both door handles, confirmed the car started. She stopped asking after that.

Get a spare made now. That's the whole lesson.
