2011 Jaguar XK
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2011 Jaguar XK Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in Carriage Square, Oxnard. He had parked his 2011 Jaguar XK at a trailhead lot, done a hike, and come back to nothing. No fob. He had retraced the whole trail, checked the ranger station, turned out every pocket. Gone. The XK was sitting in the lot and he had no way in and no way to start it.

He found me online and I told him I could be out that afternoon. He sounded like he expected me to tell him he needed a tow to a dealer.

When I got there the XK was the only car left in the lot. I picked the door mechanically to get inside without damaging anything. Then I connected my diagnostic equipment through the OBD port, read the immobilizer data, and started the programming sequence. On this generation of XK the all-keys-lost process can be handled from the OBD port, which meant no module bench work, no towing, no waiting on dealer parts.

I cut and programmed the new smart fob on site. The car started in that same lot.

He asked me twice if it was really done. The dealer would have needed a tow to get the car there first, and then their timeline would have been measured in days. He got his keys and drove home that evening. That is the whole story.
