2013 Lexus CT Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already in Ventura when the call came in. A parent had just finished drop-off near the Serra Cross/Grant Park area and was heading back to her car when the fob went completely unresponsive.
No door unlock, no response from the push-button start, nothing. She still had the physical emergency insert key in the fob, so she could get in, but the car wouldn't start. She called the dealer first. They couldn't see her until Friday. It was Wednesday morning and she had a work meeting she couldn't miss.
I told her I was already close. She was parked in a lot near the park, calm about it but clearly watching the clock.
When I got there, I opened the fob first before touching anything else. The CR1632 was original and had nothing left in it. Swapped the battery, reseated everything clean. The car still needed the fob registered after sitting with a dead battery long enough, so I connected to the OBD port, ran the smart key registration sequence, and let the timed countdown do its thing.
Total time from arriving at her car to handing her a tested, working key was about 25 minutes. She made her meeting. The dealer quote she mentioned was a number I hear a lot from CT owners. What she paid me was a fraction of that, and she didn't have to wait two days or arrange a tow.
