Out near the Pleasant Valley Bike Trail in Camarillo, a guy with a 2018 Lexus LC lost his only smart key somewhere between the trail parking area and wherever he walked that morning. Searched the whole path, nothing.
He called the Lexus dealer first. They told him it would need a tow, the car would sit for a few days waiting on parts, and the fob alone was north of three hundred before programming and the tow bill. He found me before he found a tow truck.
I picked the door with my TOY43 Lishi and decoded each wafer position while I was in there. Cut a fresh emergency insert blade on site to match the decode. Then I connected through OBD, ran the all-keys-lost protocol on the 88 series immo, cleared the old fob registration, and wrote his new HYQ14FBF into the system. Part number 8990H-33020, 4-button proximity fob, programmed and tested standing right next to his car.
The part that always takes the longest is the verification loop. Walk every door, test lock and unlock from multiple distances, check the trunk release, make sure push-button start catches on the first press. He sat on the hood of the car watching me circle it like I was inspecting it for hail damage.
Engine started clean. About 50 minutes, door decode to running engine, right there in the parking area. He drove home instead of waiting on a flatbed.
