I was out near the Premium Outlets Area in Camarillo when a call came in from a guy whose 2019 LC was sitting dead in his driveway. Not dead as in battery, dead as in the car refused to acknowledge any key. I connected to the OBD port and ran the all-keys-lost procedure for this vehicle's security system. The LC uses a later-generation smart key architecture, and the process has a timed sequence built in, so you don't rush it. I registered the new fob, tested every button, walked both doors for handle-touch response, and confirmed the start button was reading the key consistently before I packed up.
He asked me what would have happened at the dealer. I told him honestly: appointment, probably next-day or later, tow fee on top of it, and the bill would have been a lot heavier. He said the midnight driveway call alone was worth it.
There are a small number of newer Lexus setups where all-keys-lost genuinely does require dealer-level online authorization. I'll tell you upfront when that's the case. The 2019 LC is not one of them.
