2005 MINI Convertible Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy near Centerpoint Mall in Oxnard. His 2005 MINI Convertible had been sitting in the lot for two days because his only key snapped at the blade, right where the HU92 neck meets the bow. He still had the remote head portion with the LX8F2V board inside, but the metal part was stuck in the ignition barrel.
Short paragraphs because this was a short extraction. I pulled the broken blade out of the ignition with a standard extractor hook. Took maybe ninety seconds. Then I cut a fresh HU92 blade to the original code, transferred his existing remote head shell and electronics onto the new blade, and tested.

They told him they would need the car towed in because they could not send anyone out, and the wait was going to be several days for parts plus the shop appointment. He was looking at being without the car for close to a week.
I had him turning the key and driving off in about twenty minutes. He sat in the driver seat for a second and just kind of nodded at the dash, like he was confirming to himself that it actually worked.
