I got a call from someone over near the Botanic Garden Area in Thousand Oaks. She had a 2003 MINI Hardtop and one working key left. That key was starting to get flaky on the remote side, sometimes locking the doors, sometimes not, and she was worried about ending up with nothing functional.

Then I walked the car. Locked, unlocked, tried both buttons repeatedly from different distances. By the time I was done checking every function, the fob was behaving like it had years left in it.
She still wanted a second key made, which was the smart call. I had the right blank with me, cut it to the vehicle, went through the programming steps with my equipment, and tested the new one the same way. Both keys working before I packed up.
She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted her, and she didn't have to leave the neighborhood.
