Got a call from a guy in the Westlake Village area of Thousand Oaks. His 2013 MINI Hardtop 2 Door was sitting in his driveway with zero working keys. His only remote head key had taken a swim in a pool over the weekend. He fished it out, dried it off, tried it Monday morning. Nothing. Dash just sat there with "No Key Detected" and the EWS ring around the ignition slot stayed dead.
He called the MINI dealer first. They told him to tow it in, order a new key, and wait roughly a week for the blank to arrive and get programmed through ISTA. He asked the price and called me instead.
I pulled up, connected to the OBD2 port, and talked to the CAS3 module directly. All-keys-lost on the R56 means reading the ISN from the CAS3 and syncing a fresh key to the immobilizer. Cut the HU92 blade on site to match his door lock, programmed the Hitag2 transponder, paired the three-button remote. The whole thing took maybe 35 minutes.
He turned the key and the car started on the first try. He just stood there for a second like he forgot what he was going to do next. Then he went back inside to get ready for work.
