Got a call from someone in the Dos Vientos neighborhood in Thousand Oaks. Her 2014 MINI Hardtop 2 Door had one working key left, and the chrome side trim on it was cracked open from being dropped on the driveway. She could see the circuit board through the gap. I showed up at her house with the blank, cut the HU100R blade on the van, then connected to the OBD port under the dash. The F56 uses the FEM module for key registration, so I synced the new NBGIDGNG1 fob through the CAS/FEM procedure, programmed the 868 MHz remote frequency, and tested all four buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, and panic. Then I started and shut off the engine twice to make sure the Hitag Pro transponder handshake was solid.
The whole thing took about 35 minutes. She sat on her front porch and drank coffee the entire time.
Her cracked fob got deleted from the system so nobody could use it. She kept it as a backup shell, which honestly is not a bad idea. One visit, one trip, done.
