Got a call from a guy over by Dos Vientos Community Park in Thousand Oaks. His 2009 MINI Hardtop 2 Door had one key left, and the plastic shell was cracked right along the seam where the blade meets the head. He had been holding it together with electrical tape for months.

I pulled up, checked his CAS2 module through the OBD port, confirmed the Hitag2 crypto was reading clean, and got his ISN from the CAS. Cut a new HU92 blade on the mobile unit, seated the PCF7942 chip, and programmed it right there in the parking lot. Lock, unlock, trunk, all three buttons answered on the first press.
The part that made me laugh was when he peeled the electrical tape off his old key and just stared at it, like he was looking at something from a past life. He asked if I could clone the old one as a spare. I did that too.
Two working keys, no tape, no dealer wait. He drove off in about 35 minutes.
