2009 Nissan Rogue
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2009 Nissan Rogue Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Up in the Hillsides neighborhood in Ventura, I pulled up to a Rogue sitting in a driveway on a weekday morning. The owner had already texted me the VIN before I left my previous job, which is exactly the kind of prep that makes everything move faster.

She wanted a spare. Had a working key, had her ID, and was standing outside when I arrived. No drama, no locked-out urgency. Just someone who had learned from watching a friend go through the all-keys-lost version of this and decided a spare was worth doing right.

Because she had the working fob with her, I went straight into an add-a-key procedure. That's the faster path on these. The existing key stays registered and communicates with the system, the new fob gets enrolled alongside it, and you end up with two working keys instead of one. All-keys-lost is a different job with a longer process and a timed reset sequence built into the procedure.

I cut the blade to match, enrolled the new fob using my diagnostic tool through the OBD port, and tested every function on both keys before putting anything away. Lock, unlock, the third button, and start confirmation on both fobs. Then I handed her the spare.

She asked if the dealer could have done the same thing. Probably, I told her, but she would have waited a week for an appointment and paid considerably more for the privilege of sitting in a waiting room.
