2002 Nissan Xterra Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman in the Madera Hills neighborhood of Simi Valley called me about her 2002 Nissan Xterra. She needed a spare key. Her only original was getting chewed up on the edges and she was worried about the day it finally stopped turning.

I pulled up to her driveway and got to work. The 2002 Xterra uses a NATS5 immobilizer with a PCF7936 transponder chip, which Nissan calls ID46. The key blade is the NSN14 profile, a sidewinder cut. I had the blank on my van, cut it on my Triton machine, then connected my programmer through the OBD-II port to register the new chip with her NATS module.
She stood by the driver's door the whole time, watching. When I handed her the new key and she turned the ignition, the security light on the cluster did its normal flash and went out. Engine fired right up. She turned it off, tried it again, same thing. Then she just nodded and said "that's it?"
Thirty minutes, her driveway, done. She kept both keys on separate rings after that, which is exactly the right call.
