2006 Nissan Xterra REMOTE-HEAD-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A home daycare operator near Round Mountain Trail in Camarillo called about her 2006 Xterra. The key shell had cracked clean through near the blade pivot, and the rubber button pad was worn so thin you could see the circuit board underneath. She was holding it together with a hair tie.
She had already called the Nissan dealer. They quoted her a full replacement, cut and programmed, and told her that was the only fix. Nobody mentioned that her internals were fine.
I drove out that evening. Popped the old shell apart on her porch table. The PCB was clean, the 4D60 transponder chip was intact, and the CR1620 still had life. FCC ID CWTWB1U751, part number H0561-C993A, three buttons, lock, unlock, panic. Everything working except the housing it lived in.
I transferred the board and chip into a fresh aftermarket shell with the same snap fit and button layout. Then I decoded her driver door with my DAT17 Lishi and cut a new NSN14 blade on site so the mechanical side was fresh too. Tested lock, unlock, panic, then started the engine twice to confirm NATS accepted the transponder without a hiccup.
She watched the whole thing from her front step, bouncing a toddler on one hip. When I handed the key back she just turned it over a few times, pressed each button, and said "huh" like she was surprised it was that simple.
The dealer wanted to sell her a whole new key. She needed a new shell and a blade cut. Fraction of what they wanted.
