2009 Volkswagen Jetta Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He had landed after a late flight and walked out to the economy lot near Oxnard with his bag over one shoulder and a shoot starting in four hours. His 2009 Volkswagen Jetta sat there completely indifferent. The fob did nothing. The car stayed locked.
He had never needed the blade before. A lot of people with flip keys never do, because the remote almost always handles entry. So he was stuck outside the car, fob clicking, getting nowhere.
He called the dealer first. Earliest appointment was Thursday. It was Tuesday. He called a tow company. The quote they gave him was not small, and it still would not have solved the key problem, just moved him and the car closer to that Thursday slot.
He found EZ Car Keyz and called. I was in Hobson Park within the hour.
The blade slot on that flip key housing is something people miss because it is tucked away and you have to press a release button to swing the blade out. Once he saw it, it made sense. Got the door open, got him inside.
From there I checked the key's communication status through the OBD port. The key was still enrolled. The CR2032 was reading low enough that the remote signal and the fob's wake function had both dropped out, but the transponder side was intact. Swapped the battery, confirmed all four buttons, verified the remote was communicating cleanly. That was it.
He was on the road with time to spare. I left him a spare CR2032 in his bag so he would not be back in that situation. The dealer route would have been a two-day wait plus a tow. What he paid me was a fraction of that combined, and he made his shoot.

“Marco was the best locksmith I've ever dealt with. I met up with him to have a replacement fob programmed for my mom's car, and he gave me an extremely fair rate and was very pleasant to deal with. Rare qualities for a locksmith. Thanks Marco!”
