1999 Chevrolet Express
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

1999 Chevrolet Express Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call out to Flinn Springs, off the back side of Lakeside, for a guy who had a 1999 Express sitting in his driveway with no key. He had bought it off a small fleet, the kind that runs a van until it stops, and the previous owner had kept exactly one key, which was now gone.

He had already called a dealer. They told him to tow it in.

I pulled up, looked at the door cylinder, and got to work decoding it right there in the driveway. The cylinder was worn but still readable. I cut a replacement key to match and tested it in the door, the ignition, and the rear swing doors. All three. He watched the whole thing, which usually surprises people. They expect me to hand over the key and pack up. I go through every lock before I call it done.

The whole job was finished before he could have even arranged a tow. That part seemed to land harder than anything else.
