I got a call out to Montgomery in Chula Vista on a weekday morning. Guy runs a small contractor operation and his 2008 Express is his work van, loaded with tools. He got to his first job, went to start it, and the key snapped. Half the blade stayed in the ignition cylinder. He did the right thing and stopped turning it instead of forcing the stub deeper.

He was back on the road in under an hour from when I got there. The broken key went from feeling like a disaster to being a Tuesday. These older full-size vans are actually some of the more manageable key jobs I run, and getting someone's work vehicle back in service the same morning is the part of this job I like most.
