1999 Audi S4 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman over in Nyeland Acres in Oxnard called about her 1999 Audi S4. The flip key housing had split right at the hinge, the part that takes the most stress every single time you open and close the fob. The blade was still attached, barely, and the whole thing flexed when she held it.
She had already called the dealer. They quoted her a full fob replacement, programmed from scratch. She almost went for it until someone on an Audi forum told her the guts inside a cracked housing are almost always fine. That is when she called me.
I met her in the driveway. She handed me the fob and I could see immediately the circuit board and battery contact were undamaged. The plastic had given out, nothing else. I transferred the working internals into a fresh replacement housing, seated a new CR2032, and snapped it together.
Then I tested every button, checked the blade fit in the ignition, and made sure the flip mechanism latched cleanly. The whole thing took maybe twenty minutes. She stood there clicking the lock button a few extra times just to hear it work right.
She paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted for a job that didn't need anything close to what the dealer was selling.
