I was up in the Hillsides area of Ventura on a weeknight when a call came in from a woman staying nearby. She was an attorney, visiting from out of town, and her only key to her 2000 Audi S4 had gone dark after a battery swap she tried herself in the hotel room.

Then I verified the key still communicated with the car the way it should. Locks, unlock, all four buttons, and the ignition. Everything came back. No new programming needed, no tow, no two-day wait.
She made her court appearance. The dealer never got the call back.
