A spin instructor at a gym lot off the Indian Hills Ridge area in Simi Valley flagged me down early one morning. Her only key to her 2012 Audi S4 had cracked right at the pivot hinge, and the HU66 blade snapped off stuck in the driver door lock.
She bought the car used. One key. Always meant to get a spare.
I pulled the broken blade out with my Lishi HU66 pick, which doubles as an extractor for exactly this kind of situation. The flip key shell was split open, but the circuit board inside was physically fine. That board still held a live Megamos 48 CAN chip with valid immobilizer data tied to her car's instrument cluster.
That meant I could skip a full all-keys-lost procedure, which on B8 Audis means pulling the cluster, reading the EEPROM off the NEC processor on the back of the board, and generating new crypto data. That alone can run two to four hours. Instead, I transferred her working electronics into a fresh aftermarket shell, cut a new HU66 blade to code on my mobile unit, and had a second spare programmed using my VVDI tool in about 40 minutes total.
She went from zero working keys to two. The dealer quoted her a multi-week wait because the key had to be ordered from Germany with matched crypto. She drove to her class on time instead.
