2003 Audi S4 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A retired surgeon along the Victoria Avenue corridor in Ventura called about his 2003 S4. He had a cane and his aide was off that day. Getting across town to a dealer was not a small ask. It was a real problem.
His only flip key had started fighting the ignition. You could see the blade was rounded off on a couple of the cuts, and the lock wafers were hanging up on the worn spots. That slow, grinding feel right before a key stops working altogether.
I set up on the hood of the S4 right there at the medical plaza. Used my HU66 Lishi to read every wafer position inside the ignition lock and decoded the original cuts. Then I cut a fresh HU66 blade from the decode, swapped it into a new 4D0837231P flip shell, and moved his existing Megamos 48 chip over. The remote side, FCC ID MYT8Z0837231, got a fresh CR2032 and a function test on all four buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, panic.
The part I like about these older Audi immobilizer systems is that the ID48 chip is what the car trusts. Move it to a clean shell with a proper blade, and the car does not care that the housing is new.
He turned the ignition from his driver seat, smooth as it should have been all along. Didn't have to leave the building. Didn't have to call anyone for a ride. The dealer would have wanted the car towed in, charged a good chunk more, and taken days. This took one visit.
