2001 Audi S4 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was standing in the rental car return lot out near Faria Beach in Ventura, early morning, about to hand back the rental and drive herself home in her own 2001 Audi S4. Then she checked her bag.
The key wasn't there. She'd checked out of the hotel an hour before, and the front desk had already searched the room. Nothing. Her flight home was in six hours and her S4 was just sitting there.
She called the Audi dealer first. Earliest appointment was the following week.
Then she called me.
I was on site in 35 minutes. The S4's flip key has a transponder chip inside the head that has to be registered to the car's immobilizer. On an all-keys-lost job like this, I can't just cut a new blade and hand it over. I pulled the immobilizer PIN from the ECU through the OBD port first, then used that to enroll a fresh flip key with the correct chip matched to her car. After that, I cut the blade to her lock on my machine, right there in the lot. The whole thing took about 45 minutes.
She tested it herself. Doors locked, unlocked, car started clean. She returned the rental, loaded her bag, and left for the airport with room to breathe.
The dealer quote was for next week and would have cost her a good chunk more than what I charged. She would have missed the flight, paid to extend the rental, and still been standing in that lot.
