2007 Audi S4
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2007 Audi S4 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Thille/Montalvo isn't the kind of neighborhood where people have a backup plan ready. It's residential, close-in, and when something goes wrong with a car it tends to go wrong at the worst possible time.

An architect called me from a parking structure off that area. Her S4 was on the lower level, the kind of low-clearance deck that a tow truck won't go near. The dealer had already told her the key would take time to source and that she'd need to get the car to them first. She had no working key and the car wasn't moving anywhere.

I pulled the van in to the level above, walked down with my kit, and got to work. The flip key she had was beyond saving. The blade had stress fractures near the pivot and the transponder had stopped communicating entirely. I read the immobilizer data through the OBD port, generated and programmed a new transponder, and built her a fresh flip key on site. Cut the blade to her car, tested it in the door cylinder, tested the remote, ran it through a start cycle in the garage.

The whole job happened on P3 of a parking structure. The car never moved an inch until she drove it out herself.

She mentioned the dealer quote on the way out, almost as an aside. It was a lot more than what she paid me, and that quote didn't include any solution to the garage problem.
