Saturday night in Simi Valley, over near the Sinaloa Lake area. A guy at one of the resort hotels had just wrapped up a conference and went to grab his 2015 S4 from the valet. No fob. He figured he left it in a meeting room that was already locked up for the weekend. Push-to-start car, zero keys, valet lane, nine at night.
The hotel concierge told him it was a dealer-only situation. Dealer was closed until Monday. He would have needed a tow on top of that.
I got the call around nine thirty and drove out. The BCM2 on B8.5 Audis is the part that locks everyone out, both figuratively and literally. AES-128 encryption on the immobilizer data means you cannot just grab a blank fob and run a quick OBD learn. You have to pull the EEPROM from the BCM2 first.
I used my ACDP module to bench-read the BCM2 data, sent the dump to the calculation server, got the crypto return, and generated a new proximity key on an 8T0 959 754 series blank with the correct Hitag Pro chip. Then OBD key learning through the diagnostic port to register the fob to the car. Tested proximity detection at every door handle, trunk release, and push-button start.
His S4 started in the valet lane that same night. The whole job ran about ninety minutes. The dealer route would have been days of waiting plus a tow, for a lot more money.
