Out in Hollywood Beach in Oxnard, a guy lost his only smart key for a 2019 Buick Envision somewhere between the sand and the parking area off Ocean Drive. He retraced twice, checked with a couple of nearby walkers, nothing. Called me around 2 PM.
I got there within the hour. His Envision was sitting locked, no spare, full all-keys-lost situation. First thing I did was decode the driver door cylinder using a B111 Lishi pick-decoder and cut a new emergency insert blade so we had physical access and a backup.
Then the real work. I connected through OBD-II and initiated the AKL security relearn on the BCM. On this generation, the tool runs a timed security countdown, roughly 10 to 12 minutes, while the module clears old key data and opens up for new registration. The HYQ4AA fob, part number 13584500, went into the center console key pocket for proximity detection during pairing. Once the countdown cleared, I programmed the new fob, tested passive unlock on all four doors plus the liftgate, confirmed push-button start, and cycled every one of the five buttons.
He sat on the tailgate watching the whole thing. When it started, he just nodded like he'd been holding his breath the whole time.
Dealer would have meant a tow and a wait. He drove home instead.
