I got a call from a guy staying in Waverly Heights, here in Thousand Oaks. He was a traveling professor, in town for a conference, and his only key to his 2022 Buick Envision had stopped working. Not lost. Just stopped. The remote functions went first, then he got a warning on the dash, and then the car wouldn't start at all.

He was a little surprised it took two steps. I explained that the remote and the starting authorization talk to the car differently, so one can fail while the other still works, or in his case, fail in sequence. Once both were sorted, everything worked the way it should.
He made his session the next morning. The dealer wait was never part of the plan.
