2002 Dodge Stratus Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A traveling construction worker staying at a motel near the Fillmore Fish Hatchery called me one night. He was two states from home, on a job starting the next morning, and his only key for a 2002 Dodge Stratus had snapped at the blade right where the plastic meets the metal. Classic weak point on these Y160 blanks.

He had already called the nearest CDJR dealer. They told him to tow it in, they could look at it sometime the following afternoon, and the whole thing would run him a tow fee plus parts and labor. He found me online instead.

I met him in the motel lot that same night. His Stratus runs the Sentry Key system with the SKIM module mounted behind the ignition lock cylinder. I pulled the broken blade out of the ignition, cut a fresh Y160-PT transponder blank on my machine in the van, and connected through the OBD-II port with my programmer to register the new PCF7936 chip to his SKIM.

Three things happened: the blade got cut to code, the transponder got paired, and the SKIM accepted it on the first cycle. Twenty minutes, start to finish. He turned the key, the security light on the cluster flickered once and went out, and the engine fired.

He drove to his jobsite the next morning. No tow, no waiting room, no second trip.
