2005 Dodge Stratus Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Heritage Valley, just off the older side of Fillmore, a woman called me about her 2005 Dodge Stratus. She said the car would crank but wouldn't fully start, and it had been sitting in her driveway for two days. She figured it was the battery or the starter. Her neighbor figured it was the fuel pump.
I figured it was the key.
When she bought the car secondhand, she only got one key. That key had been through a lot. The head was cracked, repaired with electrical tape at some point, and the collar around the blade was loose enough that I could see the key wobble slightly in the ignition. The car was cranking fine. The issue was the transponder communicating inconsistently because the key was physically compromised. The security system was doing exactly what it was designed to do.
I decoded the blade from the ignition cylinder, cut her a fresh key, programmed the transponder to the vehicle on site, and turned it over. Fired right up.
She told me the dealer had quoted her a multi-day wait and suggested they might need to diagnose the fuel system first. I did not say anything about that. I just showed her the new key and the old one side by side and let her draw her own conclusions.
