2004 Dodge Stratus Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A kindergarten teacher flagged me down at the grocery store near Central Avenue downtown area in Fillmore. She had a 2004 Dodge Stratus and needed a spare key. She thought only the dealer could touch the immobilizer side.
Her neighbor had used me on a Chrysler 300 and told her I do the same work since the Stratus shares the JR platform with the Chrysler Sebring. Same SKIM module, same PCM handshake, same Sentry Key protocol.
I pulled my Smart Pro out and connected through the OBD-II port. Her Stratus uses the older Sentry Key system with the Philips PCF7936 chip in a Y160-PT key blank. The Smart Pro read the four-digit PIN from the SKIM module directly, no dealer call needed. Once I had the PIN, the key learn sequence took about two minutes: ignition on, tool sends the registration command, PCM accepts the new transponder ID, done.
I cut the 692353 blank on my Condor, programmed it, and had her test it three times cold. Cranked every time. She held both keys up next to each other like she was comparing them for some difference she could see. There isn't one. The magic is all inside the plastic.
Thirty minutes, start to finish, in the parking lot. A fraction of what the dealer quoted her, and she never had to leave Fillmore.
