2006 Honda Ridgeline Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A trail runner near Del Sol Park in Oxnard texted me a GPS pin from a hiking lot about twenty minutes outside of town. His 2006 Honda Ridgeline was sitting in a dirt pullout and his key had fallen out of his shorts somewhere on the trail. No spare. No dealer anywhere close. His truck wasn't going anywhere.
I drove out with everything already in the van.
First thing I did was pull immobilizer data through the OBD port using my ACDP Mini on the Honda module. The Ridgeline stores its transponder info on the gauge cluster board, so backing that up is step one before writing anything new. Then I decoded the HO03 sidebar cuts from the driver door cylinder and cut a fresh key on site.
The new remote head key, OUCG8D-380H-A, got its ID46 chip registered to the immobilizer, and I programmed all three buttons: lock, unlock, trunk. Tested the remote range from about forty feet out, cycled the ignition twice, confirmed the green key light on the dash went away on start.
His Ridgeline fired up in that same dirt lot it had been parked in all morning. He just stood there holding the new key like he was weighing it.
A dealer would have needed a tow from a spot no flatbed wanted to reach, plus days if the remote head key wasn't in stock. I was done before his shoes dried.
