2012 Honda Ridgeline Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Down at Marine Emporium Landing in Oxnard, a college kid called me from a storage facility on a Monday. He was mid-move, loading a U-Haul he had reserved for Wednesday, and his only Ridgeline key had snapped at the head. The blade was still in the ignition. The plastic remote housing cracked clean off and the transponder board was just hanging there by a ribbon.
He had already called the dealer. Thursday was the earliest appointment, and they told him the key blank might need to be ordered on top of that. Three to five business days, start to finish. His U-Haul reservation was not going to wait.
I pulled the broken blade out of the ignition with a small extractor, nothing dramatic. Then I set up on the tailgate. Cut a fresh HO03 blank, transferred the programming through the OBD-II port, ran the Hitag2 security handshake on my Smart Pro, and registered the new OUCG8D-380H-A. Lock, unlock, trunk release, engine start. All confirmed in the parking lot.
The whole thing took about 35 minutes. He went back to loading boxes. No tow, no waiting until Thursday, no second trip to pick up the truck.
