Out in Ormond Beach, I got a call from a guy who had just landed a red-eye and walked to the economy lot to find his 2008 Ridgeline completely unresponsive. Fob did nothing. He tried the key in the door lock and got in that way, but then the truck would not start. He called the dealer first -- Thursday was the earliest they could take him, and it was Tuesday morning. I connected through the OBD port, confirmed both his keys were still registered, and cleared the fault. Took maybe 20 minutes total once I was parked next to him.
He just kept saying he thought the whole key system was fried. It was not. It was a battery and a quick confirmation procedure. He was pulling out of that lot and heading home before most people had finished their morning coffee.
The dealer appointment, the tow, and the two-day wait evaporated. He called it the best Tuesday he had in a while.
